Freeform Surfaces from Equilateral Panels

with No Comments

Here’s an example of panelling a freeform surface with equilateral panels. Now, this is not a “true” panelling, since it is impossible to panel a doubly curved surface with only equilateral triangles without gaps or overlaps – however, if we introduce a bit of error between the panels, we can actually get quite a bit of curvature. The idea is that with a clever mullion design, it would be possible to hide the error, thus creating a seemingly clean assembly.
